Dr. Sanjay Kumar newly appointed Chairman, Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB), New Delhi met Dr. T. Mohapatra, Chairperson, PPVFR Authority on 1st August, 2023. Dr. Kumar discussed about various activities of the ASRB and the way forward. The Chairperson, PPVFRA congratulated Dr. Kumar and wished him success in his new position.

Dr. Malvika Dadlani, former Joint Director Research, IARI and currently the Editor National Academy of Agriculture Sciences (NAAS), New Delhi visited the PPVFR Authority on 27th July, 2023 and presented to Dr. T. Mohapatra, Chairperson, PPVFRA a copy of the book entitled “Seed Science and Technology Biology, Production, Quality” edited by herself and Dr. D.K. Yadava. This book has been published by the Springer, Singapore. She discussed about the book and highlighted its popularity in a short span of its publication.

Dr. M. Ramasami, Chairman, Federation of Seed Industry of India (FSII) accompanied by Mr. Ram Kaundinya, Director General, Mr. Raghavan Sampath Kumar, Executive Director, Ms. Mallika Verma, Senior Director, Government Affairs and other senior members of board of FSII met Chairperson and Registrar-General, PPV&FR Authority, New Delhi on 27th June, 2023 and discussed pertinent issues related to the seed industry.

Dr. P. L. Gautam, former Chairperson, PPV&FRA, made a courtesy visit to PPV&FR Authority on 23rd June, 2023. He was accompanied by Dr. A. C. Ranade, Director and Shri Hardev Choudhary, Sr. Innovation Officer, National Innovation Foundation India. Possible areas of interface between PPVFRA & NIF-India, particularly, registration of Farmers’ varieties were discussed.

Mr. Ekkehard Schroeder, German Project Team Leader, Indo-German Cooperation on Seed Sector Development visited PPV&FR Authority, New Delhi on 19th June, 2023, and discussed about the study visit to The Netherlands related to DUS testing on Tomato (Greenhouse) during 24th-30th September, 2023.

Mr. R. K. Trivedi, Executive Director, National Seed Association of India (NSAI) and former Registrar, PPVFRA along with other officials of NSAI met the Chairperson and Registrar-General, PPVFR Authority, New Delhi on 14th June, 2023 to brief about the activities of NSAI. He also raised the issue of convention country agreement in order to promote seed trade.

Dr. B. Balaji, Secretary, National Biodiversity Authority, Chennai visited PPVFR Authority, New Delhi on 9th June, 2023 and interacted with the Chairperson Dr. T. Mohapatra & Registrar-General Dr. Dinesh K. Agarwal. Various aspects related to Agro-Biodiversity and registration of farmers’ varieties were discussed. He also invited the Chairperson and Registrar-General to visit National Biodiversity Authority, Chennai for a structured discussion.

Mr. Mark Edge, Global Director (Partnerships, Seeds & Traits) Bayer Crop Science, USA along with other officials from Bayer Group in India met the Chairperson on 8th June, 2023 at PPVFR Authority, New Delhi.

Dr. Yelloji Rao Mirajkar, International Convenor along with Dr. K. Ramadurgam visited PPV&FRA, New Delhi on 26th May, 2023 to discuss about the Global Indian Scientists and Technocrats (GIST) forum activities & programme (GIST Meet 2023) including Aahaar Kranti campaign.

Dr. Valasubramanian Ramaiah, Regulatory and Stewardship Lead-South Asia with his colleagues Dr. Nitin Joshi, Regulatory Manager and Ms. Ruchira Saini, Government & Industry Affairs Lead, Corteva Agriscience India Pvt. Ltd. met the Chairperson and emphasized on the need to accelerate the process of variety registration and proposed for an indepth deliberation on registration of Essentially Derived Varieties (EDV).

Dr. S.K. Chaudhari, DDG, NRM, ICAR, New Delhi made a courtesy visit to PPVFRA, New Delhi on 9th May, 2023 and discussed about various activities of the Authority.

Dr. T. Mohapatra welcoming Dr. R.S. Paroda Former Secretary, DARE & DG, ICAR, and Chairman TAAS at the PPV&FR Authority, New Delhi on 8th May, 2023. During discussion, Dr. Paroda emphasized on taking proactive measures for faster registration of crop varieties.

Dr. Manish Das, Director, ICAR-Directorate of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research, Anand, Gujarat visited PPV&FR Authority, New Delhi on 3rd May, 2023 and greeted the Chairperson Dr. T. Mohapatra. During the brief meeting, issues related to DUS testing, particularly development of new DUS test guidelines for medicinal and aromatic plants were discussed.

Dr. P.S. Birthal, Director, ICAR-NIAP, New Delhi visited PPVFRA, New Delhi on 21st April, 2023 and greeted the Chairperson on his joining.

Dr. H. Rahman, ILRI Regional Representative, South Asia, greeted Dr. Mohapatra on 21st April, 2023 after his taking over as Chairperson of PPVFRA.
